Dental Examinations

Maintain your dental health with regular examinations with one of our dentists.

At your dental examination you can expect your dentist to ask about your medical history first. It is important to keep this up to date in our records so we can treat you safely and effectively. Always inform your dentist of any medical changes.

You will also be asked to sign an FP17 form that allows you to be seen as an NHS patient.

Your dentist will then carry out a thorough examination of your mouth, gums and teeth. This may include diagnostic tests or X-Rays as required. Always ask if you have any concerns or questions.

Fillings

Cavities and broken teeth can be fixed with our range of different filling materials by a dentist or dental therapist. Fillings are usually placed after administration of a local anaesthetic.

Tooth coloured fillings are often available on request, usually on a private basis.

Root Canal Treatment

If a tooth has suffered deep decay (close to the nerve or root canal) or trauma the pulp/nerve becomes inflamed and can cause toothache. The pulp then dies and becomes infected with bacteria that can form an abscess. A dentist can carry out a root canal treatment, if appropriate, to try and save the tooth. This procedure can take a long time and numerous appointments.
